OTHER ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE IN BALI
Outrigger sailing
Skimming the reefs in a Balinese outrigger canoe is one of the most relaxing things
to do and an experience not easy forgotten. At Sanur, Candidasa
and Lovina it is easy to arrange a sailing jaunt with the
local fishermen.
Water Skiing and Parasailing
The major international hotels in Sanur and Nusa Dua, where the coast
is sheltered by long coral reefs, have water - skiing facilities.
Tanjung Benoa is the place for those who love all kinds of water
adventures, from skiing and parasailing to water scooters and
banana - boat riding
Paragliding
The Exofly Paragliding School located at Timbis beach on the
Southern peninsula offers tandem and (after professional instructions)
solo flights circling high above Bali's shorelines or mountains.
2-day lessons include instructions on the ground,
one tandem flight with the instructor, and 2 or 3
solo flights with radio assistance
Bali Rafting
Several companies offer exciting white water rafting tours
(grade 2 to grade 4 rapids) on the Ayun river North-West of
Ubud and -- during certain times of the year -- also on the
Unda river North of Klungkung. You pass waterfalls and
volcanic cliffs, deep sided gorges, tranquil rice terraces
and remote villages. From morning to afternoon, including
transfers from and to your hotel and lunch
Climbing
Not advisable during the rainy season (November to March). Bali's
highest mountain, Gunung Agung, can take between 3 to 6 hours
to climb. It takes one day to reach the summit of Gunung
Batukaru and return. Guides are recommended. For rock climbers
there is a state-of-the-art, 110sq meter climbing wall in
The Adrenalin Park.
Bali Camel Safari
Bali Camel Safari provids a journey in to a Traditional Historic
seaweed farming village. Professional Camel handlers will
guide you through one of Balis eternal, ageless beach and
bus setting with temples, Monkeys and Balinese Culture on
these majestic yet gentle animals.
Bungy Jumping
There are now three companies in Kuta (A. J. Hackett,
Adrenalin Park, and Bali Bungy Co.) and another company offering
the island's only waterfall jump near Gianyar. With the "Sling Shot"
at the "Adrenalin Park" in Kuta you can get shot 52 metres into
the air in just over one second, and they have an overhanging
climbing wall, too. Another Sling Shot is located right next to
the HARD ROCK RESORT
Horse Riding
Some of the most amazing scenery can be seen this way, riding through
the parts of Bali that only the Balinese get to see. Rides,
through padi fields of along deserted beaches, can be
organized through the tour operators.
Cycling
Most pedal-pushers can find their own way around, however
there are some river-rafting companies offering day
trips on mountain bikes, which are well worth taking
until you get your bearings! Cycling is a great way
to see Bali "off the beaten track".
